Blog of Gilgamesh
1200 B.C. - I have defeated the evil humbaba. Enkidu was my best friend but unfortunately the Gods killed him. Enkidu was the one who talked me into finishing off humbaba instead of letting him live. All of this had made me start thinking about immortality.
1200 B.C. – My quest for immortality has made me decide to go on a journey to find immortality. I am scared to die because the after life is a dark and dreary place. I don’t see why I can’t find it. I am the greatest king my people have ever seen. I am too strong to die like an ordinary man.
1199 B.C. – I have been on my journey for a long time now. I still have not found immortality but I feel like it is still out there. The journey has been very long and I did not think it would take this long to find.
1199 B.C. - I have can to the realization that I will not find immortality. It is inevitable that I am eventually going to die someday. I must return back home and be there for my people. I am very disappointed but I must live with it and be the best king as possible.
1184 B.C. – The great king Gilgamesh died. Gilgamesh never found immortality but he was still a great king. All of his people loved him and he help protect them his whole life. His popularity has lived on way past his death. Gilgamesh is one of the oldest and popular pieces of literature in the world.
Soundtrack to Gilgamesh
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZMsz3gDrwA - We picked this song “red warrior” because it describes the journey in which Gilgamesh travels. Gilgamesh enters the woods to search for immortality and we feel that this song simply describes the feelings and tone Gilgamesh goes through on his journey to find immortality.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SO67G2kPvJk Snapes Demise- Alexandre Desplate
This song from producer Alexandre Desplate has a wonderful melody that we thought describes the feeling of Gilgamesh losing his friend Enkidu. After losing Enkidu he realizes what his destiny is and that is to find immortality. Gilgamesh takes time to reflect on everything that has happened and realizes that he wants to accomplish his goals of finding immortality.

This song we picked for the scene where Gilgamesh and ENkidu travel to the mountain to battle Humamba. This song depicts the journey and accurately shows what they went through to defeat Humamba.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrZB9nPMvS4 - A window to the past produced by John Williams
We picked this song because after losing Enkidu and wanting to find immortality Gilgamesh comes to a realization. He soon learns that, “the life you are seeking you will never find.” This being because Gilgamesh was still ⅓ man and every man must at some point die.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34p4D6tB9oo Your hand in mine by Explosions in the Sky, is a song we chose because it depicts after the death of Gilgamesh. it was a sad loss for the people that cared about him but his legend lived on for years and years to come.
